Norris 'Da Boss' Windross
Norris ‘Da Boss’ Windross, has been actively part of the UK Dance scene for over 20 years, commended for his creative skills as a DJ/ Producer.
Not only resident for some of the biggest, cutting edge, worldwide promotions, his contribution to the music scene has led not only to chart success, but also being at the forefront of several pioneering projects such as the creation of the UKG brand.
His passion for music began from an early age, raised in the club culture with his family running a nightclub from the tender age of 9. listening to DJs, mentally making mixes in his head quickly progressed to an art form and it wasn’t long before he was performing at small parties and community festivals, hosting his own events then introducing garage to a predominantly Piano/Italian house scene.
His first event ‘Yum Yum’ hosted by himself, Smokin Jo and MC GQ was the first taste in the creating a new Vibe & sound in the UK, pitching US House and Garage records up for more energy he was and playing the B side or dubier on the whole. His presence and dedication saw him reside in the infancy of the UK Garage scene at iconic events such as; The Spreadlove Project, Freedom @ Bagleys, Ministry Of Sound, Aquarium and Mambo in Ibiza led Norris ‘Da Boss’ to become a headline act, performing on tours and events worldwide.
In 1994, production entered Norris’s ambition, since which he has been involved in a string of successful tracks, ‘Go Slowly’ his first studio remix, ‘Funky Groove’ ‘Psuedo’s Heartbeat’ with much respected Gavin Face Mills now one half of Copyright & then Right Before My Eyes & Liferide Produced with Grant Nelson followed by the successful launch of his own label ‘W Records, featuring acts such as Rose Windross, MC Creed, Angel 21 and MC Kie. All of his tracks exploded on the UK Garage Scene with ‘Right Before My Eyes’ featuring Kallaghan and MC Neat charting in the nationals and performance’s included ‘Top Of The Pops’. Liferide ‘NNG’ featuring Rose Windross & MC Creed was the follow up & one of the most iconic UKG hits to date.
Seeing the impact of the newly founded UK House & Garage scene and proud of its growth and nation wide acceptance, the first UK House & Garage awards was created to acknowledge the industry. Norris was voted Industry ‘Top DJ’ at the awards. Norris, knew what had been achieved and felt the UK scene needed its own identity, so the new brand ‘UKG’ was conceived & created along with his partners, MC Creed & Jason Kaye. ‘UKG’ was quickly acknowledged by the industry and the award ceremonies at Hammersmith Apollo and the Brixton Academy crowned the new UK brand with 30 date national tours preceding them.
Norris is now about to launch his label We Are We Network and will be releasing from a number of artistes aiming to become a front runner in UK House & Garage again on the ascendance. Norris aims to support the music genre flying the flag for all sounds related and with a string of releases already lined up, its set to be a busy 12 months for Norris
MC Creed has been firmly established in the house & garage industry since 1989/ 90’. He is part of the collective of founders of the UK garage industry and helped the progression of the ‘UKG’ scene become a commercially recognised genre, achieving no 1 chart success.
Creed along with Norris Da Boss Windross and Jason Kaye launched the famous ‘UKG Awards’ leading to a series of national tours, spreading the UK Garage vibe. As well as playing host to some of the biggest and best club nights, ‘Twice As Nice’, ‘Sun City’, ‘La Cosa Nostra’ and ‘Pure Silk’ to name but a few and yearly guest appearances in Ibiza & Ayia Napa
He was one of the first UKG artists to achieve chart success with ‘Good Rhymes’ & ‘We Are Da Click’ produced with fellow partners Pied Piper, Unknown MC, PSG & Valerie. The commercial success of these tunes set the way for UK Garage as a Worldwide recognised music genre and in turn lead to a catalogue of of highly successful mainstream and underground releases for Creed.
His diversity and distinctive voice has also led Creed to regular guest and presenting appearances on a diverse selection of TV shows with his acting debut in Julius Amadumes Award Winner Film ‘A Goats Tail’. And voice over commissions for ‘Ayia Napa Uncovered’, ‘Fantasy Island and ‘Flava’ Creed was not only the first UK Garage MC but also the voice of a movement.
Starting Vocal Fusion’ A specialist UK booking agency for MC's. Providing MC workshops and introducing up & coming artists to the industry with the Vocal Fusion competition albums,the winner of the first vocal fusion being Miss Dynamite.
Known for his senior youth work he heavily supports and contributes to several community projects. He works in partnership with local councils to deliver DJ & MC workshops, and the management of ‘Anti Knife & Gun’ workshops.
